Randall Lee Smith was a shy, socially awkward individual that lived in Giles County, Virginia. He was known for lying about everything he said, even lying about committing murder. His obsession with the Appalachian Trail will go with his obsession with being alone. Would this be the motive to his horrific crime? Randall brutally murdered two social workers back in May 1981 and this episode goes in depth about the story. This is the first part of three.
