Belle Gunness was a Norwegian-American serial killer active in the early 20th century. Born in 1859 in Norway, she immigrated to the United States in 1881. Gunness is believed to have murdered numerous suitors, husbands, and even her own children, often luring them with personal ads and then robbing them. Her crimes came to light after her farmhouse in LaPorte, Indiana, burned down in 1908, revealing human remains on the property. Despite extensive investigations, her fate remains uncertain, with some speculating she faked her own death to escape.
