 Buck Ruxton was a notorious figure in the early 20th century, known for his involvement in a gruesome murder case in the UK. Born in 1899 in India, he moved to Britain and became a doctor. In 1935, he was convicted of murdering his wife, Isabella, and their housemaid, Mary Jane, in a crime that shocked the public due to its brutal nature. The case gained notoriety not only for the horrific details but also for the forensic methods used in the investigation, which were pioneering at the time. Ruxton was sentenced to death and executed in 1936, leaving a lasting impact on criminal justice and forensic science discussions in the UK.

 Georgia Tann was a deeply controversial figure in the early-to-mid 20th century, known primarily for her role as the director of the Tennessee Children's Home Society (TCHS). Operating in Memphis, Tennessee, from 1924 to 1950, Tann’s organization was involved in widespread illegal adoption practices. Under her leadership, Tann orchestrated a network of child trafficking that exploited vulnerable children and their families. Many children were forcibly removed from their biological parents or falsely declared to be orphans, then sold to wealthy families across the United States. Tann’s actions resulted in a significant number of stolen children and long-lasting trauma for countless families. Her unethical practices were exposed in the early 1950s, leading to widespread outrage and legal reforms in adoption practices.

 Robert Berdella, also known as the "Kansas City Butcher," was an American serial killer active between 1984 and 1987. He lured young men to his home in Kansas City, Missouri, where he subjected them to horrific torture and eventually murdered them. Berdella was known for his meticulous documentation of his crimes, which included detailed notes and photographs. His killing spree came to an end when he was arrested in 1988. He was convicted of multiple counts of murder and other crimes and was sentenced to life in prison, where he died in 1992. His case remains one of the more notorious examples of extreme criminal behavior in the U.S.

Kristin Smart was a college student who went missing on May 25, 1996, while attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She was last seen walking home from a party with Paul Flores, a fellow student. Her disappearance triggered a prolonged investigation but initially yielded few leads. In 2002, Paul Flores was identified as a key suspect but was never charged due to insufficient evidence.

Over the years, various searches and investigations failed to find Kristin Smart, but in 2021, the case gained renewed attention. New evidence and witness testimonies led authorities to arrest Paul Flores and his father, Ruben Flores. Paul was charged with Kristin's murder, while Ruben was charged with accessory to murder.

In 2023, Paul Flores was found guilty of first-degree murder, and Ruben Flores was found not guilty of accessory to murder. The case remains a somber reminder of the challenges in solving long-term missing persons cases and the impact on families and communities as Kristin's body has still never been found.

Andrew Bagby, a promising medical student, was tragically murdered in 2001 by his ex-girlfriend, Shirley Turner. Despite concerns raised by friends and family, Andrew agreed to meet Turner in a remote location. The meeting ended in violence, with Andrew being shot multiple times.

The case sparked significant controversy due to the circumstances surrounding Turner's release on bail and the subsequent failure to protect Andrew. The murder and its aftermath led to a critical review of the legal and child welfare systems in Canada.
