Dean Arnold Corll was born on December 24, 1939, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to parents Mary Emma Robison (1916–2010) and Arnold Edwin Corll (1916–2001). As their first child, Dean experienced a strict upbringing from his father, while his mother was notably protective of him and his younger brother. The couple's marriage was troubled by frequent arguments, leading to their divorce in 1946, shortly after the birth of their second son, Stanley Wayne Corll.
