At 8:24 a.m. on August 8, 1973, Henley called the Pasadena Police Department (PPD). The call was taken by an operator named Velma Lines. During the call, Henley urgently stated, "Y'all better come here right now! I just killed a man!" He provided the address as 2020 Lamar Drive, Pasadena. As Henley, Kerley, and Williams waited outside Dean Corll's residence for the police to arrive, Henley confessed to Kerley that he had "done that (killing by shooting) four or five times."
