James Walsh, frontman of Starsailor, has a new solo record out. It’s called Coming Good, and it really is a lovely collection of songs.
As the focal point of the aforementioned four-piece, James has sold over three million records. He’s experienced life at every level of the music industry. Major labels and indies. Big budgets and none. He’s received adoration and cutting critical distain. And, bizarrely, with Starsailor and the Warrington band’s second album, Silence Is Easy, he was also the subject of Phil Spector’s final production work before the Wall of Sound pioneer’s conviction for murder in 2009.
Heads up, the audio on this episode is a bit crummy. Not bonus episode crummy, but a bit stuttery in places. And yet I think good stuff follows regardless. We get into all of the aforementioned, and more, during the course of this episode.
