In Volume 17 of Tales From The Boom Room: Profiles of The NYPD's Arson & Explosion/Bomb Squad, retired NYPD Detective Paul Yurkiw joins the show, recalling his 1982 entry onto the NYPD, joining the Emergency Service Unit in 1986, getting shot & nearly killed in the line of duty in 1989, & his 1993 arrival to the Bomb Squad which in the 9 years he spent there saw him work the 1994 Edward Leary Subway Bombing, 1996 TWA Flight 800 Crash, defuse letter bombs at the United Nations & pipe bombs destined for the Atlantic Avenue Subway courtesy of Palestinian terrorists in 1997.
