Episode 135: Clayton Kershaw

Listen Later

We don’t tiptoe around culture. We don’t apologize for conviction. We don’t run from the furnace. We step in, shoulder to shoulder with the King.

On today’s C-Suite for Christ podcast, we talk about a man who lived it. Clayton Kershaw. Cy Young winner. World-class pitcher. But today, we celebrate something bigger than an arm. We celebrate a backbone.

When the world told him to fit in, to fly the rainbow flag, to bow to comfort, Kershaw said, “No.” He didn’t shout. He didn’t rage. He wrote a Bible verse on his Pride-themed hat. Quiet defiance. Holy courage.

The world mocked him. The critics lined up. The backlash was fierce. But he reminded a nation: JESUS IS STILL LORD. His is the only approval that matters.

Brothers and sisters, what will you do when your moment of truth arrives? Will you wilt? Or will you stand?

Buckle up. This one’s raw, real, and rooted in truth.

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)

Key Takeaways:

10:50 - Isn't this rich? Isn't this all incredibly ironic? They want to bring sexual ideology into the stadium, but the moment someone brings in scripture, they call it offensive. They say, you're out of line. Now, let me be blunt here. So there's no ambiguity, so we're all on the same page. What they're really saying is that anything goes except Christianity. But guess what? There was also a groundswell of support. Christians across the country applauded him... But unlike certain publicity hounds in society today, Clayton wasn't looking for applause. He wasn't trying to be a culture warrior. He was just trying to be faithful. That's the mark of a true disciple.

22:39 - If you're more afraid of a hashtag than of hell, your priorities are way messed up. So many Christians are more afraid of what two people they've never met are going to say than spending eternity in hell. That stops now. And that starts with us.

24:30 - Silence in the face of sin is complicity. Refusing to speak truth is refusing to love... You can't preach about grace and avoid judgment. You can't be a follower of Christ and refuse to carry His cross.
