And Lise showed us how she’s able to maximize her clothes storage with a great accessory.

She uses a cloth shoe storage bag she bought at Ikea, rolling her clothes and keeping them in the shoe storage bins. See the photo at left.

PET TIP OF THE WEEK

With warm weather we become more aware of  the need to protect our pets from fleas, ticks and parasites. [spp-timestamp time="22:09"]

But these days, many vets are urging year-round protection programs.

Fleas are the most common external parasite that can plague pets, and they can lead to irritated skin, hair loss, hot spots, and infection. Fleas can also introduce other parasites into your cat or fog. All it takes is for your pet to swallow one flea, and it can to end up with tapeworms, the most common internal parasite affecting dogs and cats.

Year-round prevention is key, say animal health experts.  They suggest regular flea and intestinal parasite control, as well as heartworm prevention.

You also need to protect your pet against ticks. Ticks are major health worries for pets and people, linked to Lyme disease among and many other serious ailments. Many vets now recommend that your pet be put on tick prevention program year round,

Because some parasite medications made for dogs can be fatal to cats, talk to your vet about keeping your precious pets worm-free, flea-free -- and safe.

OFF THE BEATEN PATH REPORT -  Stromy Kromer Hats, Ironwood, MI

Ball caps, cowboy hats, straw hats, watch caps and lately, Stormy Kromer hats. [spp-timestamp time="51:44"]

We picked up our first Stormy Kromer hats while doing some winter camping a couple years ago in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Seemed like every Yooper we saw was wearing one. So Jennifer and I both got one, me a rakish black, Jennifer’s a demure grey with pink trim.

As we returned from that trip but kept wearing our hats, we met lots of other people who either had one, knew someone who had one or wanted one.

Lots of people call them an Elmer Fudd hat.
