SPOILER ALERT: No. They are not.
That didn't stop ESPN's Tony Kornheiser from calling the 46-26, National League-leading Rockies exactly that on Monday. As part of a segment on "Pardon the Interruption", Kornheiser tore into the team, saying, "Ever since I saw them in the 2007 World Series, when they went down four-love to Boston, I have this prejudice against them. That they're a fraud team — they're a fraud team propped up by altitude."
Host Shawn Drotar and guest Ronnie Kohrt dissect the lazy argument -- even though they understand why the usually-excellent Kornheiser felt the way he did. After all, the Rockies haven't had a winning season since 2010.
Seven years later, however, it appears as if the franchise might have finally turned a corner.
