Our Flashback Files, interviews previously published on Patreon and now available for all, continue with Sara Century talking early Vertigo comics with Sam Richard of Weirdpunk Books. This episode originally appeared on Patreon on Nov 5, 2023.
Hello hello! This episode features Sam Richard and focuses primarily on the work of Peter Milligan, who wrote Shade the Changing Man and Enigma in the very early Vertigo days (among other things, those are the ones we talk about here). If you recall we prematurely announced this episode that is just now going live, and that's because it actually turned into a massive two-part conversation! So, apologies for the delay, but on the plus side, you get like three times the content I thought you were gonna get. So, enjoy, and come back for part two later this month!
Meanwhile, Sam is a great horror writer in his own right, as well as the person behind Weirdpunk Books (they published Sara's horror anthology last year, A Small Light & Other Stories). You can follow Sam across platforms @sammytotep and @weirdpunkbooks and you can find everything Weirdpunk at the website. If you like early Vertigo, Weirdpunk isn't exactly a direct successor but I think you'll find some spiritual crossover so be sure to check out their releases!
You can hear Sam talk more about Weirdpunk in this BoC episode, and you can hear Sara talk more about Weirdpunk in this one.
While Bitches on Comics is on hiatus to deal with some personal matters, we’re also busy behind the scenes making sure we come back stronger than ever.
