Today’s episode is a really special one for me because in this episode I got to interview my 6th grade teacher!
In today's episode I also talk about watching Hamilton for the first time. Go watch it!
Callie was my 6th grade teacher and she and I talk about that in the interview. In addition to being a teacher, Callie is a wife, mother, writer, Anne Arbor, Michigan resident, and the author of The Teacher Diaries, and Twirl: My Life With Stories, Writing, and Clothes.
Callie and I re-connected via Facebook 10 years ago and I have been following her career since then. In that time, I have seen her post pictures of her two girls as they grew from toddlers to pre-teens. I have also seen Callie post blogs that she wrote, then books that she contributed to, then a book she wrote herself and another book she wrote herself. As I have had my own babies while simultaneously started my own independent creative endeavor in starting this podcast, I have kept Callie’s journey in the back of my mind. So, I thought it would be really fun and cool to invite her on the show and get her take on her journey first hand!
The goal of our conversation is to let young moms know that you can be a fantastic mother and follow your passion at the same time!
In our discussion we talk about:
"creativity and parenthood are two things that you don't know how it will turn out in the end"
"You're always a mother, you're not only a mother" (Jesse's fantastic quote that launched the whole thing!)
