Episode 1970 - Wind Chill Factor: Why 10°C Feels Like 5°C When Running

Listen Later

Day 1970 brought 25mph winds and a practical lesson in physics that every runner needs to understand. Running along the coast today, I experienced firsthand how wind chill transforms your entire run - turning a mild 10°C morning into something that felt like 5°C once the movement and wind combined.

After nearly 20,000km of daily running, I've learned that successful endurance isn't about conquering the elements - it's about understanding and adapting to them. Today's episode breaks down the realities of running in strong winds, from the difference between wind speed and wind gusts to practical clothing adjustments and route planning.

With 20,375km remaining toward my 40,075km lap of the world, every run matters - including the challenging ones. The children we're supporting through this £1M fundraising mission don't get to pause their battles because conditions aren't perfect, and neither can this streak.

This is about more than running in wind. It's about the patience to work with circumstances rather than fight them, and the judgment to know when to adapt rather than just push through.
