In 1904, Chicago won the bid to host the Olympic Games. However, not to be out-done, St. Louis decided to take on the Olympics at the same time as the World's Fair. Obviously they bit off more than they could chew because the ensuing games resulting in some of the most ridiculous antics, most especially the Men's Marathon.
