On 23 November 2022, this year’s Diners Club Winemaker of the Year (Category Chenin Blanc), Kiara Scott Farmer thrilled the judges with her Brookdale Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2022. The 2024 Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year, Mika Engelbrecht was awarded (Red Wines Category) for her Neethling’s hog Estate Range Cabernet Sauvignon 2022.

Make it Pop: Why everyone needs to see Esther Mahlangu’s retrospective at the Wits Art Museum with their mentor or mentee

Fashion Accounts at Museum Africa: Fashion Accounts, at Museum Africa in Newtown, Johannesburg, is a series of installations that explore and challenge the practices and rituals of collecting, archiving and memorialising through dress. Curated by Wanda Lephoto, Erica de Greef, and Alison Moloney, the exhibition delves into the rituals of memory, resistance, and preservation.  Featuring new commissions by The Sartists and Mimi Duma, alongside works by Thebe Magugu and Sindiso Khumalo, this exhibition addresses the legacies of colonial museum practices and the material cultures they have collected, stored and preserved.

The exhibition is funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, with the support of the French Institute of South Africa, the City of Johannesburg and Museum Africa. 

The exhibition will be open to the public from 15th November 2024 to 28th February 2025 at Museum Africa: 121 Lilian Ngoyi St, Newtown, Johannesburg. 

The Dish: A Grand Night for Singing, the Dean’s Concert, in which Professor Federico Freschi, Executive Dean of the University of Johannesburg Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (FADA), compares the choristers to elite athletes.

A Grand Night for Singing is a gala fundraiser for the Dean’s Bursary Fund, established by Professor Freschi to provide financial assistance to academically deserving students in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) who face financial hardship. The bursary fund was established by the Dean in 2013, and became more prescient after the perils highlighted by #FeesMustFall in 2015
