For the past four decades, artist Marilyn Minter has made paintings that explore the complex and contradictory emotions around beauty and the feminine body in American culture. Minter's work has been featured in numerous group shows, including the 2006 Whitney Biennial. Her work was exhibited at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh (1992); Dia Center for the Arts, New York (1993); and White Columns, New York (1996). In 2006, the public art group Creative Time displayed three of her photographs in New York's art-and-fashion neighborhood of Chelsea. In 2007, she was commissioned by the art magazine Parkett to create its first-ever centerfold, of Minter's muse Pamela Anderson. Her film, Green Pink Caviar (2009), debuted at Salon 94 in 2009, was displayed in Times Square that spring, and in 2010 was screened at the Museum of Modern Art.

In addition to being an artist, Marilyn is an activist and an ardent supporter of Planned Parenthood. Marilyn helped plan the Choice Works art auction. The proceeds of the auction benefitted Planned Parenthood. Marilyn raised another 3 million dollars for the organization when she collaborated with fashion designer Marc Jacobs and pop star Miley Cyrus to make t-shirts that included her art.

Marilyn was nice enough to invite Lydia and Lydian Spin producer Simon to her studio for a chat. Over the years, Marilyn and Lydia have had many friends and experiences in common, but did not have a chance to meet until they were both panelists at an event at the Museum of Modern Art. Marilyn and Lydia talk about these commonalities, as well as Marilyn's career as an artist and activist, Pamela Anderson, as well as the mess that is politics today.
