Today I am joined by Paul Reed.
Paul is a Combat Sports Performance Coach and newly appointed Head of Performance at the English Mixed Martial Arts Association (EMMA). He is also the second half of Vortex Combat Sport Performance, which is run alongside Combat Sport Science Expert Dr. Carl Evans.
Paul is making some serious waves in the MMA world and he is starting at the grassroot levels. He is passionate about making positive changes in the community and in particular improving the culture of weight cutting amongst athletes at all levels.
In this episode, Paul and I discuss his background into MMA, the current landscape of making weight, worrying practices amongst amateur athletes, the role of parents and coaches, how to influence change in these communities and we finish with an enlightening discussion about one of Paul’s more well-known clients, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett.
