And your surgeon won't do it in a packed theatre with a whole crowd to hear your screams and wails as said surgeon tries to beat his personal best of hacking off your leg in 2 minutes flat...

Suffice to say, 19th century surgery was a horrifying ordeal. Lets talk about it!
