Mari finally calls her Nanay, and resumes her research of J's notes. 

Written in invisible ink, she learns about his final encounter with Clifford Bolden, and the secrets of the Foci he learned from Mary-Anne Weekes, and an unnamed Elder "friend". In this, he answers the question - Why do some Foci have pieces of an Elder's soul?

And how did Mary-Anne create the "Good" Foci?
