For a special October treat, we discuss ghosts and hauntings on this episode of The Sofa King Podcast. We begin with a look at some strange and creepy places from around the globe which leads to a discussion of the supposed haunting of the Padre Hotel in Bakersfield where we record. We then turn the discussion to a look at different types of ghosts from spirits to poltergeists and imprint or residual haunting.

From there, we explore the main tools that ghost hunters use in their attempt to confirm or debunk the existence of ghosts. We look at EMF readers, thermal sensors, ion counters, digital and 3D cameras and the phenomenon of EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). To round out our discussion, we explore alternative explanations for what a ghost could be, besides the soul of the dead trapped on Earth. This goes from psychic residue to infrasound, carbon monoxide poisoning, neural energy in the wrong place, and the power of self-suggestion.
