For nearly 50 years, I dreamed of being a surfer and didn’t take the necessary steps to realize my dream. Over the past three years, incredible surfers invited me to Fiji, the Mentawais, Samoa, G-Land, and many other iconic locations.

The fact that somehow this surf community has welcomed me with open arms is as rewarding as it gets for this surfing fool. And I can promise you, the audience, I am not embraced for my skill level.

Unfortunately, courage is not possible without fear. Never let my perceived lack of fear convince you that I haven’t been filled with terror my whole life. The audience sees me drop into double overhead waves, calmy and cool as a cucumber. Very few see the hours spent falling like a kook on waves twice that size.

How often do we dream of a world where our problems have disappeared, rather than dreaming of ways to develop the strength to welcome and overcome problems precisely as they arrive in actuality?
