Lydia and Tim are joined by the trans rapper Mz Neon, and trans multimedia artist, LGBT activist, actress, and television producer Zackary Drucker.
2019 was a big year for Mz Neon. She demo-released her infamous single Pussy Stick, which is a bold reclamation of self, as well as a celebration of raw trans-femme sexuality. Paper Magazine premiered the eponymously titled documentary Mz Neon, which recorded her journey as a transgender rapper. Last September's issue of Gay Time's magazine Amplify profiled Neon in an article on "trans goddesses" who "challenge the status quo, living their lives authentically and inspiring generations of trans and cisgender people to embrace their truth". 2020 looks to be just as jam packed as last year. In fact, today(May 1st) marks the anticipated release of Neon’s industrial-tinged, transversal rap debut Queen Hyena Vol. 1. The EP which is available on Spotify and iTunes, is the first in a series of mixtape EPs set for release in 2020. Today's episode opens with Pussystick. Listen, and let Mz. Neon know what you think by messaging her on instagram @mz-neon.
Zackary Drucker uses photography, film and performance to break down the way we think about gender, sexuality, and seeing. She has performed and exhibited her art work internationally in museums, galleries, and film festivals. Zackary's collaborations with Rhys Ernst were highlights of the 2014 Whitney Biennial. Her work has also been shown at MoMA PS1, Hammer Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, MCA San Diego, and SF MoMA, among others. Zackary is also an accomplished television producer. She was nominated for an Emmy for her work as a producer for the docu-series This Is Me. Zackary also was a producer on Amazon's Golden Globe and Emmy-winning hit series Transparent .********************************************************************
