In 1977 Penelope Houston moved from Seattle to San Francisco to attend art school. Her career in visual arts was sidetracked when she became the singer of the critically acclaimed proto-punk band the Avengers. In 1978 The Avengers opened for the Sex Pistols at the last Pistol's show ever. Since then, she has performed throughout the United States and Europe, both with the Avengers and with other bands. She has released albums with independent and major labels. Penelope lives in San Francisco, where she continues to create and perform as a musician and visual artist.
