It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are a time for friends and family, gifts under the tree, and sugarplum dreams unless, of course, you’re on the naughty list. If that’s the case, you might be called on by one of these Christmas Cryptids from folklore. While good boys and girls get a visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself, naughty children get a visit from Gryla, the ogress with an appetite for naughty children. If cute and cuddly is your thing, you might want to turn back now. According to Icelandic tradition, children who did their chores would receive new clothes for Christmas. On Christmas night, the enormous Yule Cat would visit and peer in windows to see who was wearing their new Christmas clothes. If you had none, you became dinner.
