Investigation of the essence of matter has primarily involved a reductive strategy, of probing and measuring smaller and smaller time and distance scales, from macroscopic levels, to microscopic levels, to ultramicroscopic levels at the Planck Scale, and then to the Unified Field level. First atoms are the matter, then quanta are the matter, then quantum force fields are the matter, then strings are the matter, then branes are the matter, and finally Pure Consciousness is the matter.
