In September 1975, the community of Waldport, Oregon started noticing mysterious flyers plastered around the town. Starting with a scribbled headline reading “UFOs”, the flyers explained how a man and woman were sent from the level above human, and would return to that level on a space ship in the next few months. Those interested in joining them were encouraged to attend an informational session where they could learn how to transition “from human level to the next level.” So begins the tragic tale of Heaven’s Gate cult. This week we’ll uncover the back stories of the mysterious two leaders and follow the 20 year path their doomsday cult took. Pay attention, coven, because it could happen to any of us. (Most especially those with UFO tattoos that say ‘I want to believe’.) Hold on tight, because this one is a really wild ride!
