Witnesses speak of a woman in pale mourning silk, her features blurred as if the air itself resists remembering her. But who was she? A grieving mother, a betrayed lover, or something else — a pattern repeating itself wherever sorrow takes root? And yet, not all ladies are grey, even if their stories are no less tragic.
