Armed police blocked off roads as part of a major security operation as Thomas 'Bomber' Kavanagh and Liam Byrne were escorted to the Old Bailey courthouse in London today.

The Dublin gangland figures were in the dock for their role in a bizarre plot to use a cache of weapons as a bargaining tool to get a reduced jail term for Kavanagh.
