In 2006, Ridgeland was rocked and captivated by the story of a pregnant school teacher gunned down in her carport in the dark of night. Avis Banks didn't seem to have any enemies, though some people wondered if the father of her child was ready to step into those dad shoes. As police worked to uncover her killer, they unraveled a saga that has been the subject of national attention ever since.
