Three things communion does:

Communion Reveals Jesus The breakthrough for the disciples at Emmaus did not happen on the road or in Bible study. It happened at the table, when Jesus broke the bread. Communion opens our eyes to where Jesus has been the whole time.

Communion Restores Fire "Did not our hearts burn within us?" The disciples entered Emmaus shattered. They left burning. Communion stirs gratitude, restores passion, and rekindles what life and busyness can cover over.

Communion Releases the Victory of Jesus Jesus was crushed so we don't have to be. He was punished so we could be forgiven. He bore our shame so we could share his glory. Communion declares that victory over our lives and our situations.
