This week on Erica In The Middle, Erica is joined by local activist and student, Khadija El-Hilali. First, they discuss the challenges she experienced growing up in Morocco and Canada. Then, they discuss how she became involved in giving back to her community and how that influenced her decision to study Global and International Studies at Carleton University. Later, they discuss her involvement with the Overbrook Community Association, in addition to her time working at the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General of Canada. Finally, they discuss why she decided to launch a now widely signed petition demanding for the implementation of an anti-racism course at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, her experience participating in a student protest in December 2020, and, if given the opportunity, what she would say in a meeting with Ottawa Mayor, Jim Watson, and Ottawa Chief of Police, Peter Sloly.

After playing a round of a new segment on the show, "The Big Squeeze," they discuss how he grew up in Pickering, Ontario. Then, they discuss his undergraduate experience at the University of Ottawa studying Political Science and History, working as a political staffer for MP's Garnett Genuis and Andrew Scheer, as well as being a member of the Catholic Christian Outreach group at uOttawa. Later, they discuss his faith, how he became interested in writing, and how he dealt with loneliness in the first few weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, they discuss why Pickering is a Canadian city that everyone should visit one day!

First, they discuss how he grew up in North Bay, Ontario, his time as a student working as a House of Commons Page and as President of the History Students' Association of the University of Ottawa, as well as one of his first dates with his boyfriend, Nate. Then, they discuss why he volunteers with the CIBC Run for the Cure and how he started his career in the public service. Finally, they discuss the importance of wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, the historic significance of the upcoming inauguration ceremony in the United States, and their own plans to possibly run for public office in the future.

This week on Erica In The Middle, Erica is joined by entrepreneur, business professional, and co-founder of Bench The Barriers, Andrew Latty. They discuss how he grew up as a varsity athlete, his organization Bench The Barriers, the importance of supporting athletes with mental health and addiction challenges, changing wedding plans due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the reasons behind his decision to participate in the University of Ottawa support staff strike in October 2020.
