Many romanticize Jesus Christ and even fewer truly undertand who Christ is. As we delve into Mark Chapter 3 we see Christ deal with preaching the truth and not be what many hope is just is. A miracle worker but Christ came to do the will of God not create social change. I think we underestimate the gospel and Jesus's passion in spreading the good news but we will dig deep into meanig of Christ and knowing how to get Him right.

We come upon Christ and His disciples being questioned why they are fasting as John the Baptist's apostles are doing with the Pharisees. The real questinon is why didn't the people rejoice having the Messiah with them but wanted tradition to be honored instead. This is true even today as religion is be lauded over more than the Savior and the truth of the Gospel. In this sermon we see Jesus speak to the importance of the New Covenant and the gospel over human rules and the Old Covenenant.

As we reach mark chapter 2 we come upon a very important interaction under a small roof. The truth of God and the Messiah's role is confronted in this home in dynamic and dramatic fashion. It echoes to us to this day as when I must ask the question Will we bring someone paralyzed by sin to the Lord Jesus?

The Leper Scholar, as it is said, `surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him a leper, smitten of God and afflicted...'" (Sanhedrin 98b)
The faith of this Leper and the reaction b y Jesus Christ is one of the most important interactions overlooked today by the modern church. The importance of this act of the Leper is one that we all can relate to when we dive into the text.
