  • 437 What Belongs to God? Luke wk40 082122

    Sunday, August 21st 2022 @ 10:00 a.m.

    Luke 20:20-26, 20:41-47 and 21:1-4

    What belongs to God?
Have you ever asked yourself that question? What is the first thing that comes to mind? There is a correct answer to that question. Jesus is pretty clear.
This week we will take a look at 3 short teachings of Jesus. These are a few of His very last public teachings. One will help us show us what belongs to God. One will help us define who Jesus is. The final one will reinforce a message Jesus has consistently been sharing with the people throughout His ministry. All three teachings can help us grow closer to Him if we allow them to.

  • 436 Ready to Grow! Lk wk 39 081422

    Sunday, August 14th 2022 @ 10:00 a.m.

    Ready to Grow!
    Luke 20:1-26

This is a special Sunday at Berea. God has opened some incredible doors for us to begin reaching out in new ways. He has placed in our hearts the desire to be the Church He is calling us to be. The parable that Jesus shares with us this week will challenge us to answer that call.

It is hard to believe that August is here. School has started. Will you please spend some time in prayer for the schools, the students, the teachers, the administration? It is crucial that we lift all of these up to God. God knows each and every one of the needs in this community. Maybe He is calling you to help meet a few of them!

Please like this podcast and share this with those that need to hear the Word of God.

  • 435 Let's set the stage Lk wk 38 080722

    Sunday, August 7th 2022 @ 10:00 a.m.

What if God gave you a gift?
    Luke 19:1-27

This week we will get to see the impossible happen! In Luke 19 Jesus shows the disciples that anything is possible with God. What many may only see as a children’s story is actually an incredible example of God’s grace and mercy changing the heart of a sinful man. This scene is followed by a parable in which Jesus separates all of humanity into three groups. Are you a true servant of God? Are you a false servant of God? Are you an enemy of God? All of us belong to one of these three. In this story, Jesus will help us determine which group we are in and then guide us in the direction that we should go.

It is an honor to get to share with you each week. Please help us by rating the podcast and sharing it with as many as you can.

  • 434 Who then can be saved? Luke wk 37 073122

    Sunday, July 31st 2022 @ 10:00 a.m. @ the Forest Park Band Shell

Who can be saved? Luke 18:15-30

Jesus is not vague. He tends to be very specific when teaching. His teachings today come from real-life interactions. In each of these two scenes, Jesus uses the moment to illustrate very important truths. Both of these two moments teach us a little about salvation. How it is that we can be saved? Is there a more important truth to learn than this?

What an incredible Sunday! We thank you for listening. Please share this with those that you know. If you can 'like' the podcast as well that helps us spread the Gospel even further. And if you are ever near Brazil, please stop in and see us!

It actually all fits quite nicely…
    Luke 16:18, Luke 17:1-4, Luke 17:5-10, Luke 18:1-14

Luke contains so much of Jesus’ life that there are times when some things just seem to be thrown in. This week will be a bit of a casserole, if you will, of Jesus’ teachings, as Luke quickly shifts from one topic to another. Remember Luke put together an orderly account from eyewitnesses and other followers who first handed down these teachings. He gathered information from an unknown number of people and was left with the task of putting it all together in a way that fulfilled his purpose. An orderly account that would help a man named Theophilus and us be certain of the things that we are being taught. At first glance, these texts seem to be unrelated but there is a string that ties them all together.

    How shrewd are you?
    Luke 16:1-17, Luke 16:19-31

The Gospel of Luke shares many unique stories that Jesus told. Jesus is known for His unusual teaching style. He used both completely understood and predictable scenarios as well as unexpected and even controversial characters to teach certain truths. The parable this week shares a truth that hits home for many of us. How shrewd are you when planning for your eternal future? Is it even something you think about? Jesus has some clear direction for us.

  • 431 Luke 15:1-32 God is searching for you...but are we searching? Luke wk 34 071022

One of the greatest characteristics or attributes of God is that of Savior. He is by nature, Savior. John MacArthur describes Him this way. “He is, by nature, compassionate, tenderhearted, kind, patient, forbearing, merciful, gracious, loving, forgiving. He is, by nature, a Savior, and not at all reluctant. This is a true expression of God and His character.” Jesus’ teachings this week share with us how God feels about those who allow Him to save them. Jesus does so through a series of 3 short stories or parables. Each of these tells the same story in a slightly different way. These stories would have grabbed the attention of all those listening. Some would have turned to God as Savior as a result of the stories. Some would have rejected the notion that they even need a Savior. Whoever you are, whatever you have done, know that God is waiting for you today. He longs to be your Savior.

  • 430 The Cost Luke wk 33 070422

Wow has it been a while! It is great to be back with all of you! This week's passage from Luke is a challenging one for sure! I pray that Jesus' Words convict you as they did me and that they will inspire change in your life.

Thanks for listening! Please share this with others that are searching.

This weekend is July 4th. Thank you Jesus, for freedom! Unless you have relatives in or have spent a good deal of time in a foreign country then it is really hard to fully appreciate the freedom that we have in America. Yes, the country has flaws and always will. It is led by flawed humans. But what we have has never existed before on Earth. We should thank God and pray that He gives us the wisdom to preserve this freedom for future generations.

This Sunday we will be challenged by Jesus’ words in Luke 14:25-35. Jesus offers the free gift of salvation to anyone. But is there more to the offer? Is there something that Jesus asks from us in return? Is there a cost to following Jesus? Jesus’ words reveal the truth. We pray that you will join us to find out.

  • 429 VBS Sunday and Fathers Day 061922

    Happy Father’s Day!

We are excited to come together and worship our Heavenly Father this Sunday.  As we gather, we will take a look back at some of the basics of our faith.  This last week we had the honor of sharing the good news of Jesus with students from all over our community.  Each night we shared with them a different aspect of Jesus.  Who He is.  How He showed God’s love.  How He loves each of us and we should show His love to others.  This Sunday we will be sharing these valuable reminders with everyone!

Maybe you have known Jesus most of your life, what a great refresher!  Maybe no one has taken the opportunity to share these truths about Jesus with you before.  I cannot tell you how excited we are about the opportunity to do that this Sunday!  Would you please consider joining us?

    Do not fear…

    Luke 12:1-34

Are you afraid?  What do you fear?  Who do you fear?  There are certainly many reasons to fear what is going on in the world around us.  Actually, the world would like for all of us to live in some form of fear.   This reality was no different in Jesus’ day.  There was much to fear at every turn.  The Romans occupying your community.  The religious leaders and legal experts watching your every move.  The oppressive taxes.  And those were just the external pressures.   There was the element of survival that existed daily for people during that time period.  There was the fear of disease, hunger, crime, and more.   How could Jesus tell them not to fear?

I cannot tell you what an honor it is to share these with you each week.  If you would please join me in praying that God provides me with the opportunity to share even more with you.  For a number of years, I have had a desire to expand this podcast beyond just the Sunday message.  I believe that God has this opportunity on the horizon.  Will you please pray for this opportunity to be God-ordained and for the content that God will bring to you through me?
