The fact of Jesus' resurrection has great implications and applications to our current joy and future hope. Our "last" enemy (the wages for our sin) death, has been beaten. Hebrews 2:14-15 Since therefore the children [we Christians] share in flesh and blood, he [Jesus] himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. And in 1 Corinthians 15:25-26 For he [Jesus] must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. Thanks be to God that we will share in this resurrection experience and live forevermore with our great and awesome God!

The prosperity gospel is antithetical to the true gospel. It gives it's followers a false hope that if they will do certain actions (have more faith, produce stronger belief, pray more, fast more, give more, evangelize more, etc.) God is obligated to bless them with a good trouble-free life. The truly good news informs us that we are in desperate need of God's infinite grace which brings us to the highest and ultimate good in all the universe: a relationship with God himself!

The struggle between men and women in marriage is one of the greatest most persistent challenges of any age. Women are abused by men, men take a passive approach to their leadership role in marriage or worse, abuse their leadership role. God did not originally design gender, marriage, and gender roles to be problematic; rather, God originally designed the genders and gender roles to complement, enrich, and enhance the other. We need God's Spirit of power and grace to regain what was lost in the fall of mankind; we need a restored and redeemed manhood and womanhood. For this, we need the redemption, forgiveness and sanctifying power of the gospel. Hell is a reality most (even Christian believers) don't want to meditate on or even think about. Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven; he warned all who heard him (and who will hear him) to flee from the wrath to come. We can rejoice in that there is a narrow road that leads to life. There is a door that opens to life and life eternal. Jesus (his person and work) is that door. Run to the love, mercy, and grace of God found in the forgiveness offered in Jesus.

The Apostle Paul uses this phrase when dealing with pride in the first-century Corinthian church: "knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up. We want to be those whose theological understanding has the flavor of love that results not in pride over our knowledge but love and good deeds! We have much to learn about our learning! God's goals for our growth in understanding is always upbuilding and deepening of our relationship with him and our neighbor.
