So many people today are operating on autopilot. They go
through their days are driven by habits that they have developed over the years.
The use of habits is not a bad thing. It is good to have habits that drive you
to greatness, but many people utilize habit to diminish the mental work
required to live a life destined for greatness.
We must learn to own every moment of our lives if we are to
maximize the God-given potential within us. As I mentioned, habits are not all
bad. There are some habits that are critical to maximizing your potential. I,
for one, am an avid believer in learning. I think everyone should read and
learn every day of their lives.
Establishing the habit of reading for 30 minutes a day is a
great start to increasing your knowledge and building your potential. There are
many similar habits that you can add to your daily regiment that can add to
improving your skill and potential.
The greatest pitfall
of them all is to step into a life of habit and forget to own the life that has
been given to you. Every moment is a gift from God. If we live a life completely
full of habits and never take time to own every moment of our day we will
awaken out of our slumber only to find ourselves decades down the road has
never achieved our dreams.
The vision God has placed within you is yours, so take ownership of the vision.
To truly own the vision, you must own the assets required to bring your God-vision into reality. The key asset you have is your time. If you are not taking ownership of your time, you will never have enough time to invest in your vision.
We must live every moment of our life with intention. I have
seen so many people in my short life die without achieving their vision. Life
is to short to waste. Invest your time; in your children, your family, your
relationships, your legacy, but most of all, your vision.
We must keep our lives balances and our priorities properly
positioned. I have seen ministers speed every moment fully engaged in the work
of the church only to lose their children to drugs, alcohol, perversion, and suicide. We must take ownership of our time and invest
it in all the Lord has given us to do.
We must first tend the things of the garden before we can go
out and subdue the world. Put in place habits that ensure you rule well. Then ensure
those habits do not rule you and prioritize your time to maximize your impact
and influence. Give yourself fully to your purpose. Know that your job does not
define your legacy; your legacy is defined by how you invest your time. Invest
it in areas that have a high rate of
return.
