What would you do if you had $1,000,000 to spend? Where would you spend it? What would you spend it on?
I can hear the gears in your head turning. The plans are already being made. that is so true.
I was talking to one of my rich friends last night. We were talking about the term “volunteer” in the context of church. He said the term really needs to be changed to “time philanthropists” because we all have the same amount of time and we invest that time into things just like philanthropists invest money.
We all have 24 hours in a single day, 168 hours in a week, about 672 hours in a month, and 8760 hours in an average year. We all have the same amount of time. Why is it that some people can accomplish so much more with the same amount of time than other people?
What are you investing your possession of greatest value (time) into?
The other night I was struggling with self-value. I have a number of friends who are millionaires. They all say their time is the most valuable thing they have. Self-worth is my mental block.
Odd note. The friends that I have who are millionaires are normal people. And in some cases, they still think like poor people. But they have a common thread of self-worth and time-value. I have never asked them what value they place on their time. But one day I believe I will.
Your self-worth is directly proportional to how you value your time.
As I was working through setting up a coaching site one day, a friend of mine suggested that I set a price on my mentoring at $1,000 an hour. I thought to myself that sounds high. He then went on to say when you reach a point where people are offering to pay that rate for your time raise it. His business has a strong component of mentoring but he reserves his mentoring efforts to invited clients.
With this concept in mind I set my coaching rate at $1,000 an hour. As my writing and businesses have progressed my time is worth more than $1,000 an hour. I may not make $1,000 an hour but my time is limited. The big question is, “am I treating it that way?”
In the past – “NO”.
When I take 30-min. of my time to walk or exercise in truth, I am investing 30 mins of time – or $500 – in myself because I am worth it.
Many people get so tied into charities, work and other activities that take their time. They fail to realize that time taken away from their main focus is not wasted. It is invested into something. What we invest that time in should be online w
