    Great indeed is the mystery of our faith and religion. Ours is a Saviour who manifested Himself in our human form, died for our sins, rose from the dead to save us, preached among the nations for the salvation of the world and taken up into heaven in glory as a pledge of our glorification. Though His crucifixion is a stumbling block to the Jews and folly to the Greeks, it is to us who believe the power of God that saves.

    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    What makes you a child of God or a person of faith is not merely the fact that you attend church. It's more how much faith you profess and demonstrate in God. True faith inspires and motivates the Christian to pray and work conscientiously, without doubting, for the betterment of the society. A person of faith is an agent of positive change and a blessing to others. In this way, such a person encounters the blessings of God too.

  • Sat. Sept. 16th, 2023 Homily by fadapeterbenson: CHRIST JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SAVE SINNERS.
    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    Indeed, God does not take pleasure in the death of the sinner. Rather, He wants him/her to repent and have eternal life (cf. Ezek. 33:11). This explains why God sent his only begotten Son into the world not to condemn the world but to save the world through Him (cf. Jn. 3:17). This is what informed Paul's assertion in the first reading of today; that "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (cf. 1 Tim. 1:15). Once saved, you must bear the fruits no longer of sin but of righteousness.

    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    Sharing in the sufferings of Jesus Christ, Mary participated in the work of our salvation. Like Jesus, her beloved son, she learnt to obey through suffering. In this way, she became a great collaborator with Jesus Christ in bringing about the salvation of humanity. The call to work conscientiously for the salvation and well-being of others, our families and our society demands of us the life of sacrifice.

  • Thur. Sept. 14th, 2023 Homily by fadapeterbenson: THE HOLY CROSS OF JESUS; OUR TREE OF LIFE.
    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    St Paul argues that "we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God" (cf. 1 Cor. 1:23-24). This is because the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ brought about salvation and the fullness of life to humanity. The tree of His cross/death is the tree of our life.

    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    Our life is in Christ Jesus who is seated at the right hand of God the Father. He enjoys now the fulness of glory, dominion and authority because while on earth, He lived His life intent on doing the will of God the Father and in pursuit of things above. This is the pathway to true and lasting glory, fulfilment and greatness. Seek, therefore, the things that are above that you may share in this glory that never fades away.

    The ability of a tree to withstand the risk of being uprooted and pulled down by wind is, to a large extent, a function of how deep its roots are in the earth. To remain standing and triumphant as a Christian amidst the threats to our Christian faith today, we must be well rooted in Jesus Christ through prayer, faith and the life of virtue.

  • Mon. Sept. 11th, 2023 Homily by fadapeterbenson: IS IT LAWFUL ON THE SABBATH TO DO GOOD OR DO HARM?
    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    St. Augustine maintains that "an unjust law is no law at all (Latin: lex iniusta non est lex)" and as such, such a law is not binding. In the sa light, Jesus teaches us today that doing good can not be limited by time or space. We must always do good and save life no matter the cost and avoid doing evil, harm or destroying life. This is the supreme law as love is summary and highest of all the laws.

  • Sat. Sept. 9th, 2023 Homily by fadapeterbenson: RECONCILED TO RECONCILE.
    TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.
    We who were once in enmity with God have been reconciled with God in Christ Jesus to reconcile others with God through Christ Jesus by bringing others to experience the love and mercy of God. To this effect, Christ Jesus the Lord of the Sabbath, becomes our standard and model in keeping the commandments of God, and our primary objective becomes the reconciliation of people with God and the salvation of souls.
    For our NINE-DAY-BEGINNING OF THE MONTH INTENSIVE PRAYERS AND NOVENA kindly pray your daily Rosary with Matthew 7:7-12, Psalms 45, 69 and 145 from 1st to 9th September, 2023.
