Ethos Church

In a world desperate for genuine connection, our church is embracing an awakening of faith and compassion. This Sunday, we explored how Jesus demonstrated uncommon compassion in Luke 7, and how we're called to do the same.

Key takeaways:

• True faith isn't about perfection, but about trusting in Jesus

• God longs to show us compassion, even in our doubts

• The church is experiencing a revival, especially among younger generations

• Prayer, community, and focusing on what truly matters are driving this awakening

Are you ready to be part of this movement? Join us in praying for God's compassion to be unleashed in our lives, our church, and our world. Let's become people who see others through the eyes of Jesus and respond with uncommon compassion.

What if everything you thought you knew about following Jesus was turned upside down?

In Luke 6, Jesus presents a radical new way of living that challenges our natural impulses and cultural norms. He calls us to:

• Find blessing in poverty and suffering

• Love our enemies

• Refrain from judgment

• Build our lives on His words

This upside-down Kingdom doesn't make sense to our world or even to ourselves sometimes. But Jesus isn't calling us to try harder or be perfect.

He's inviting us into a transformative relationship:

"Come to me. Hear my words. Do them

This Easter, we were reminded that Jesus sees our struggles, pursues us despite our failures, and offers unending love and redemption. Just as He restored Peter after denial, Christ stands ready to restore each of us.

No matter how far you feel you've strayed or how much shame you carry, Jesus' resurrection power can transform your story. His heart for you cannot be diminished by your sins any more than clouds can threaten the sun.

You are loved beyond measure. Your past doesn't define you. Hope is alive.

"Mercy triumphs over judgment." - James 2:13

In a world quick to criticize, Jesus calls us to a radical love that extends mercy to all. This week's teaching reminds us:

• Jesus seeks out the "sinners" society rejects

• Our spiritual growth is measured by how we love others

• The church should be known for mercy, not judgment

• We must see grace to give grace

In a world full of temptation, Jesus shows us the way to true freedom.

This week at Ethos, we dove into Luke 4 and explored how Jesus succeeded where Israel failed, breaking the pattern of sin and setting us free. We learned that:

• We are no longer subject to sin - Christ's sacrifice gives us renewed humanity NOW, not just in eternity

• We can overcome temptation through the power of the Holy Spirit

• God's redemptive story is still unfolding, and we get to be part of it!

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be 'heaven and earth people,' bringing God's kingdom to life in our everyday world.

This week at Ethos, we explored how we can make Jesus more visible to those around us:

• Repent and be baptized - Show and tell others about your faith journey

• Get to work - See your job as an essential part of following Jesus

• Share with one another - Use your resources to help those in need

Whether you're a barista, accountant, student, or parent - your vocation is your calling. How would Jesus live if He were in your shoes? Let's prepare the way for others to see Him more clearly through our daily lives and work.

In this exploration of Luke 2:41-52, we delve into the profound truth of our identity as children of God. The story of young Jesus in the temple serves as a catalyst for understanding our own spiritual longings and default inclinations toward God. We're reminded that our souls yearn for the things of God, just as Jesus was drawn to His Father's house.

Are we following our soul's deepest longing? Are we defaulting to the things of God in our daily lives? By understanding our true identity and pursuing God's presence, we can experience transformation and fulfill our purpose as bearers of His love to the world.

Luke's meticulous account serves not just as a historical document, but as a testament to the truth of Jesus' life and teachings. We're challenged to consider: Can we be certain of our faith in an increasingly skeptical world?

In this teaching on prayer, we delve into the challenging topic of unanswered prayers and disappointment in our faith journey. We're challenged to resist isolation during difficult times and to cling to our faith community. The message invites us to trust God more deeply, surrendering to His will even when it doesn't align with our desires. This requires developing a consistent prayer life, not just in times of crisis, but as a daily discipline that prepares us for life's challenges.

Pastor Brad Cooper reminded us today that our identity in Christ is the foundation of our prayer life and our victory over temptation. Just as God the Father spoke these powerful words over Jesus before His ministry began, He speaks them over us through Christ.

Remember: You don't have to perform to earn God's love. In Christ, you already have it! When life's pressures come, stand firm in who God says you are. You're not crushed - you're filled with the Spirit of the living God!
