Ever feel anxious about prayer? You're not alone. In this week's teaching, we explored how Jesus calms our anxieties and invites us into a deeper relationship with God through prayer.
Remember, prayer isn't about perfection—it's about connection. Whether it's a simple 'Father, have mercy' or the Lord's Prayer, God hears you.

Prayer isn't just for the ultra-spiritual - it's an invitation for all of us to participate in God's kingdom work!
In today's message on intercessory prayer, we learned that:
• We were created to be co-laborers with God
• Prayer is the primary way we usher in God's kingdom on earth
• Intercession is love in action - allowing God to love us into loving others
“To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world.” - Karl Barth

Prayer isn't just an activity we squeeze into our busy schedules - it's a way of life.
This week at Ethos, we dove into the heart of prayer:
• Find your 'thin place' - a sacred space to meet with God
• Keep it simple - God loves you more than you know
• Keep it up - discipline and delight dance together in mature relationships
• Pray what you've got - bring your true self to God, messy thoughts and all

As Christians, we're called to be faithful messengers of the Gospel, even when it's uncomfortable or unpopular. But we must also remain humble and open to receiving God's truth from unexpected sources.

Our lives move in the direction of our strongest thoughts. Just as we would remove a bird that's flown into our home, we must actively work to remove negative thoughts from our minds. The enemy, described as the father of lies, targets our thought life. But we have a choice - we can capture these thoughts and make them obedient to Christ.

As we embark on this new year, we're called to reflect on our spiritual journey and the formative power of our daily habits. The teaching revolves around the importance of intentional spiritual growth and the potential pitfalls of our digital age. Drawing from 1 Timothy 4 and John 10, we're reminded that our spiritual nourishment comes from actively listening to God's voice and following His ways.
The 28-day digital fast challenge presented isn't just about disconnecting from technology, but about reconnecting with God and each other. It's a powerful invitation to detox our minds, reset our priorities, and create space for deeper spiritual encounters. This fast parallels the biblical practice of fasting, where we set aside distractions to focus on our relationship with God.
As we consider our relationship with our devices, we're encouraged to ask: What is truly forming us? Are we allowing God's word to shape our thoughts and actions, or are we being molded by the constant stream of digital information? This challenge is an opportunity to rediscover the joy of undistracted time with God and to cultivate habits that nurture our souls.
