Wildlife scientist Dr Vanessa Pirotta won a prestigious Eureka Prize for promoting understanding of science, praised by judges for championing conservation and "helping Australians of all ages make informed decisions about the future of our marine ecosystems".

Dr Pirotta uses school visits, social media, TV and radio appearances and a citizen science project on Sydney Harbour to engage Australians to make informed choices on how they interact with the environment.
