Welcome to our new show, where we do whatever we want basically? Here, we are taking you through the first 11 songs of the OGAE Second Chance Contest 2020. We disect Spotify-core, criticize soulless AND conviction-less reggaeton, worry about Jaguar Jonze's back, and get into some youth pastor vibes.
You can watch all the participating entries here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkRK2G20udo&list=PLSBLK8G6aPBGIKNObwhLLJAY2fiS0HOf2&index=1

We're wrapping up an altogether EXCELLENT year for the Eurovision with soaring highs, beautifully dreadful lows, and everything in between. On this Rewind: Ellis and Jonathan disagree about the sequined A.V. club, someone has given a CHILD a MICROPHONE, and we've got Fun Fact Fjords and Controversy Corners dropping left and right. The Eurovision 1979 was a good one, so honor it in the best way possible - listening to our spicy takes.

On this week's episode of Eurovision Rewind, DSCHINGHIS KHAN! Also the, first half of the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest, but to many people that is just a means to the end that is Dschinghis Khan. Here at Vocab Gumbo though, we review them all, so strap in for some primo Eurovision disco, utterly insane postcard vignettes, Millan's love of brass, and more! It's all here, and it's all leading up to one of the all-time Eurovision greats as we rewind.

We're polishing off the pre-disco-'70s bizzarro world of the Eurovision Song Contest 1975. This week we've got joyous children's music, couples in unexpected places, and a real actual kidnapping! Then, one of the most injust judges' verdicts yet. What was Malta thinking? Can Ellis and Millan ever correctly predict anything? Tune in and find out!

We're on our way back to the '70s in this week's rewind, excited to discover the wide world of Eurovision Disco. To our disappointment, we've missed it by a year or two -- but what we found in its place is well worth a nice chat! There's spangled jumpsuits, post-Beatles mimicry, soul AND conviction, and much more to discover on this week's Eurovision Rewind.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2013 was a strange, badly paced beast. On the upswing, that means this episode gets the fun songs! Come along, as we visit 2 (2!) big name entrants, some fascinating falsettos, and Kilt Gang ft. Kilt Dad. Then, join us in despair as we complain about our favorite entries inevitably under-performing. That's all part of the Eurovision experience, and we've got it all as we rewind back.

This week, we rewind to a year that can only be adequately described as "strange." Or "weird." Take your pick. Out of a sea of entries that are indeed technically songs, we also come across the single best staging of any performance we've covered yet, a charming man with a ukelele that holds a dark secret, and some horribly misused bagpipes. This is the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

The exciting conclusion of our 1965 rewind is here, featuring visits to the Fun Fact Fjord aplenty! In this episode we whip around the second half of the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest, discover the long-lost twin of Abraham Lincoln, and tear apart the WORST voting system the ESC has ever seen.

This week we're rewinding all the way back to our earliest year yet, 1965! Our first episode from the grooviest decade comes with culture shock, temporal confusion, and the least pageantry yet. That doesn't make the discussions any less spicy though, with the crew introducing a new segment as we try to comprehend the pre-disco era of the Eurovision Song Contest. In this episode: beefy arms, excitement for sequins, and absolutely not Marilyn Monroe.

In what is already being called the most CONTENTIOUS Eurovision Rewind yet, Ellis and Jonathan nearly come to blows over the merits of Iceland! On top of that, we've got World Cup anthems, baffling uses of snow and apricots, and more confusion than ever seen before. Dive in, and rewind back to the far off year of Two-Thousand-Ten...
