The Israeli attack on Gaza's Nasser hospital this week — that killed at least 22 people — has underscored the dire state of healthcare in the Palestinian enclave for its 2 million people.

The damage to Nasser Hospital comes as a UN-backed agency last week declared an official famine in Gaza City where residents are also facing an escalating military assault by Israel and forced evacuation to areas further south.

A human rights group has warned that evacuating Gaza City hospitals would be a death sentence for hundreds of patients
