Evangelism on SermonAudio

Christian, you have inherited your name from Jesus Christ. In fact, you have inherited all things from Him; the King over kings, the Lord over lords. He will have us beginning to act like princes and princesses in His royal kingdom. We are to be children of light. We will worship Him who secured these blessings, whose death enacted the last will and testament of the Father, and who established His covenant with that very same death. We owe Him all loyalty and all gratitude – even our very lives. We can agree with Isaac Watts – "love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

This sermon examines Paul's emotional struggle and the reality of suffering for the sake of the gospel in 1 Thessalonians. The preacher highlights how Satan actively hinders the spread of the message, causing distress and affliction for both the apostle and new believers. By analyzing Paul's fear and eventual comfort upon hearing of the Thessalonians' faith, the text underscores that persecution is an expected part of Christian discipleship. The speaker challenges modern Christians to recognize their own reluctance to face social friction when sharing the truth. Believers must trust the Holy Spirit's power in conviction rather than avoiding difficult conversations about Christ.

The message contrasts the powerlessness of the idol Dagon, which falls and requires human assistance, with the living and sovereign God. Here too is the ridiculousness of man who clings to modern day idols, and the Lord vindicating his name.
