Unless you've been living under a (ragna)rok you know that the latest Thor installment has taken the MCU by storm. And people actually like it. Patrick and Allan (friends from work) set out to explore what makes this Marvel stand above the rest and discuss where it ranks in the overall MCU.
This episode we take a look at the "New Mutants" and other things scary in pop culture. For once we're excited for a Fox/X-Men offering that doesn't feature Hugh Jackman.
Sometimes it's hard to replicate the past. At least that's the case with "Blade Runner 2049". The movie, which had a critic score of 89 and an audience score of 81 on Rotton Tomatoes, doesn't hold up to the original. The sequel is boring, has a bad color palette, terrible sound design and takes away what made the original so great, mystery. 2049 ends with a finite ending, leaving no room for interpretation. The movie was so boring that Patrick got up and walked around the theatre to get his steps in and Allan was checking his watch at an hour in.
The reviews are in Marvel's "The Inhumans" is horrible. On the other hand, "The Gifted" has promise. This episode Patrick and Allan break down Marvel's latest two television offerings and discuss the good, the bad plot holes, and the ugly effects of both shows.
For this episode, Allan finally sat down and watched the first season of "Game of Thrones". We know...the rest of the pop culture world is anticipating the final season, but it's Allan. The discussion delves into the show's racism, nudity, and somehow Sesame Street.
This week we look at the recent toy hall of fame inductees. We learn that Allan thinks Clue is way too violent...but also thinks sand is a toy. Also, spirograph is something that Patrick, alone, thinks is amazing.
Patrick is convinced that Allan hates all things cute in pop culture. Disney, Furby's, and well, everything. Allan tries his best to prove Patrick wrong. It doesn't end well.
In this episode we wrap-up the summer with a look back on some of the movies we didn't get to discuss before. Spiderman, War for the Planet of the Apes and the beloved Emoji Movie. We also learn that Patrick has a secret love for Jar Jar Binks and Garfield. Allan does not share this love. And finally, we take another look at the "Rotten Tomatoes" effect on the Hollywood box office.
Jessica Jones, Danny Rand, Luke Cage and Matt Murdock, better known as the Defenders! Allan and Patrick break down the latest Marvel superhero ...mash up! A positive is that the show addresses some of the flack Marvel has received about the consequences of superheroes actions and that the chemistry between the team was great. On a negative note, Danny Rand. If you've seen it, you understand.
As the seasons begin to change and summer transforms into fall, we give you our last podcast of the summer! It may seem a little late, but let's be real. It's the Transformers...you know what we're going to say. Actually, we have a pretty good discussion on why we should love Transforms and look forward to the 'splosions of summer cinema!
