He's the dapper dude that won Esquire Malaysia's Best Dressed Real Man in 2014, he was also one of the top Counter Strike players for Malayasia, and has most recently created a community of like minded fitness focussed friends. Julian Khoo joined us in the studio tonight. It was his first time on radio so we were gentle on him; that doesn't happen very often.

Tonight, we are blessed with a stage veteran with half a century’s worth of experience and also lovingly known as Malaysia’s First Lady Of Theater, Faridah Merican!
Another proud Penangite on our show, Faridah also carries the ‘nothing is impossible’ attitude associated with the island. Most notably with the unfortunate incident of 2003, where The Actor’s Studio in Plaza Putra of 24 years strong was lost to a flash flood. In the short span of two years, Faridah and her equally well renowned husband, Joe Hasham managed a grant straight from Tan Sri Francis Yeoh in creating and building KLPAC into what it is today.
2015 marks the tenth year anniversary for KLPAC ever since it’s French art festival launch in 2005. Spearheading this occasion, is a line of 10’s where it is a showcase of 10 singer-songwriters, choreographers, theater directors and installation artists. Faridah’s work plate is never empty with her still is on stage herself with an upcoming play ‘Sisa-sisa: A Collection Of Four Plays’ and being as an executive producer for ‘A Taste Of Water’ directed by Joe that will be played in mid-July.
For the record, Faridah scored 4!

The pop-culture panic is a rather commonplace occurrence. Throughout history, adults have attributed undesirable changes in youth behaviour to some aspect of popular culture. Gilded age critics attacked the dime novel for its sensationalism, violence, and appeal to instant gratification. Video games will lead to deviance and delinquency. Pinball machines and gambling. Movies and violence. Music and religious apostasy. The comic book too was no stranger to controversy. Ever since they had appeared on American newsstands, comics had been attacked by parents, teachers, librarians, by all those self-appointed guardians of traditional culture. By the time the mid-1950s rolled around the kind of outrage that would meet the comic book industry was at a fever pitch. Comic books and their creators were painted as cunning corrupters of children, as monstrous artefacts crafted by experts to twist young and impressionable minds in the direction of crime, drug addiction, and debauchery. And at the heart of this attempt to annihilate the art form was a psychiatrist named Fredric Wertham.

We talk to Cotton Field Scare Crows frontman Johan Sultan about his newly opened Gaslight Cafe KL in Bukit Damansara - a place for poetry, writing and music, which aims to recreate that same creative spirit of the famous same-named Greenwich Village Coffeehouse, which played host to folk musicians and poets of the Beat Generation in 60s New York.

Tonight, we were joined by a multi-talented funny woman, Shamaine Othman! Shamaine’s been in and around the stage ever since she was 7! Having studied in Aswara before heading off to Melbourne to do a Bachelor’s in Performing Arts. She acquired a distaste management but understands deeply to what the stage needs and offers.
Her experience in this field is evident with her being the director for Cuak, a performer and writer for Projek Disco Baldi (a sketch comedy group which turned to having it’s own fully fledged TV show from humble mamak talking points beginnings), being in Artificially Intelligent : Improvholics Anonymous (an improv comedy troupe which is a regular show at Comedy Crackhouse every 3rd Thursday of the month!) and of course stand up comedy.
From starting off in TimeOut KL Comedy Thursday’s open mic to joining forces with Joanna Kam for her shows, Super Kam (1,2 and 3) and Kam In Your Face. Shamaine is a woman whose talents pouring in excess just like how her audience would be laughing in tears during her shows!
For the record, Shamaine scored 15!
