In this episode, I provide 10 tips of what not to do when planning an event.
Don't anticipate everything is going to run perfectly. It is great to have a positive outlook, but ensure you have back-up plans for potential challenges.
Don't plan your event in a bubble. Poll and survey your community that would attend your event.
Don't kick-off your event with a negative experience, this usually happens at registration.
Don't have a go with the flow attitude on the budget. Plan and allocate funds to each area of the event and adjust along the way.
Avoid picking an event venue just on how it looks. Make sure it meets the needs of your event.
Don't think bad weather will not happen to you. Have a bad weather back-up in your contact if you have an outdoor space.
Don't forget about communicating with attendees on-site.
Don't forget to have options to re-print marketing materials and badges if last minute errors arise.
Don't underestimate the importance of the small and impactful details.
Don't forget to keep the momentum going after the event by sharing event content, surveys and testimonialsThanks for listening and supporting small business and our community!
