We’re still in the first quarter of the year, and this is when it matters most.
The energy you surround yourself with right now will shape your mindset, your mood, and your momentum for the rest of the year.
I believe we’re all either a sponge or a faucet. Sometimes we’re absorbing the energy in the rooms we’re in. Other times, we’re creating it. The key is being intentional about when we’re doing each and who we’re doing it around.
At the beginning of the year, it’s so easy to fall back into default environments. The same friend groups. The same conversations. The same thinking.
But if I want different results this year, I have to choose different rooms.
Who I spend time with impacts how I think.
How I think impacts how I show up.
How I show up impacts what I create.
When I put myself in rooms where people are expanding, building, dreaming bigger than me; I become the sponge. I absorb that energy. It stretches me. It raises my standard.
And when I walk into rooms that need light, leadership, and belief — I choose to be the faucet. I decide how I’m going to show up. I set the tone.
As we set this year off on the right foot, I’m asking myself:
- Who am I spending time with?
- How do I feel after I leave certain rooms?
- Are these relationships aligned with where I’m going — or where I’ve been?
This year, I’m being intentional.
Because the people around me will either fuel my momentum or slow it down.
And I know which one I’m choosing.
Here’s to starting the year surrounded by the right energy and creating results that reflect it.
