Hebrews 12:1-2
John 21:1-19
Big Idea: Keep your eyes on Jesus, the one who has redeemed you.
Context
• Peter once again got out of the boat to meet Jesus
• Peter’s denial is recorded in all four gospels (ouch).
• Jesus performed miracles, provided for his people, served, and restored.
• The three questions about Peter’s love for Jesus are certainly tied to Peter’s three denials.
Jesus loves you just as you are AND loves you too much to leave you that way
1 Peter 1:18-21
Our obedience to Jesus is the overflow of a heart and life focused on Him
Matthew 22:37
“There are many of us that are willing to do great things for the Lord, but few of us are willing to do little things.” - D.L. Moody
Response
• Allow time in your day to focus on Jesus, and allow him to confront you with the truth about your life. (He loves you just as you are AND loves you too much to leave you that way).
• LOVE your Oikos
• Commit this year to keeping your eyes on Jesus
“I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed by thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things
to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven. Amen."
