So many of us know where we want to go. A stronger marriage. Better rhythms. More presence with our kids. Healthier habits. A deeper faith. But if we aren’t honest about where we actually are, we’ll keep using the wrong directions.
In this episode, Stephen and Megan explore a simple but powerful truth: you can’t get where you want to go if you don’t know where you are. Through practical conversation, relatable stories (including an unforgettable wings phase), and a simple coaching framework, this episode will help you identify your current reality so you can move forward with greater intentionality and clarity.

Adventure is closer than you think.
Ryan Wekenman is a storyteller, pastor, and teaching pastor at Red Rocks Austin, a vibrant church he helped plant with close friends. He’s passionate about helping people explore life’s biggest questions through creative communication, co-hosts multiple podcasts, and is the author of Free Me From Me and Single Today.
In this episode, Stephen sits down with Ryan for an honest and surprisingly funny conversation about the “me maze” — that exhausting cycle of performance, comparison, control, and self-focus that so many of us get stuck in. From a wild COVID self-help overdose story (yes, literally passing out in his backyard) to practical tools for shifting from self-centered living to God-centered freedom, Ryan unpacks why self-help isn’t the enemy—but why self at the center always leaves us weary. Together, they explore modern-day “fig leaves,” the pressure of performance, the power of prayer, and what it looks like to honestly answer God’s question: “Where are you?” If you’ve ever felt stuck in your own head, weighed down by pressure, or exhausted trying to keep it all together, this episode is for you.

Adventure is closer than you think.
In this episode, Megan and Stephen wrap up our Looking Back + Remembering series with a simple, practical exercise: creating your own Life Map.
A Life Map gives you a visual of your story, helping you notice both the highs and lows and how God has been present through it all. It’s a way to step back, reflect, and move forward with greater clarity.
This idea is rooted in Book of Joshua chapter 4, where God instructs Joshua to build a monument of twelve stones as a reminder of His faithfulness. When people asked, “What do these stones mean?” it became an opportunity to remember and tell the story.
That is the heart behind Life Mapping.
Everyday Adventure Challenge: The 12 Stones Challenge
Take time this week to begin your Life Map.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is awareness.

This week’s guest is Laurie P. Short. She is an author, speaker, and storyteller who has shared with hundreds of thousands of people through conferences and church settings. Her newest book, Tracking God in Your Life, is a unique, interactive experience designed to help you discover and document how God has been at work in your story all along.
In this episode, we talk about the power of remembering, why looking back is essential for moving forward, and how to actually find God in both the highlights and the hardships of your life. Laurie shares personal stories of heartbreak, unexpected turns, and how what once felt like endings became the beginning of something new. We also dive into practical ways to “track” God—through closed doors, timing, pain, risks, and even when life doesn’t go according to plan. If you’ve ever wondered where God is in your story, this conversation will help you see that He’s been there all along.
This is a meaningful, hope-filled conversation that will challenge you to stay in the story, trust what you cannot yet see, and begin recognizing the fingerprints of God in your everyday life.

MORE FROM EVERYDAY ADVENTURE
This week, Stephen and Megan explore the power of remembering—and why looking back can help us move forward with clarity, healing, and purpose. Using the JourneyWay framework, they discuss how life is a journey, and why before we identify where we are (“You Are Here”) or where we’re headed (“True North”), it often helps to remember where we’ve been.
They talk about why God so often called His people to remember, how reflecting on the past builds gratitude and faith, and how revisiting old journals, photos, and past seasons can help us recognize His faithfulness in ways we may have missed at the time. They also unpack the tension many people feel around looking back—especially when painful memories or difficult seasons are involved.

This week’s guest is Kimberly Stuart. She has written nine books, eight of them fiction, with her most recent being her first nonfiction release, Star for Jesus (And Other Jobs I Quit). Kimberly is also a writing coach who works alongside Bob Goff through writing workshops and their podcast. She is an absolute hoot and a half, and we quickly discovered a strong Midwestern bond.
In this episode, we talk about her connection with Bob Goff, writing multiple novels while raising young kids, using influence to lift others, what you learn about yourself while writing a memoir, how a tragedy-turned-miracle changed her family forever, remembering her dad and the impact he had on her life, the importance of getting your words into the world, and all she has learned about grace along the way.
This is a fun, meaningful, and laughter-filled conversation with a woman who has lived deeply, written boldly, and found humor and hope through every season.

Bob Goff is a bestselling author of Love Does and many other incredible books, known for his contagious joy, bold faith, and commitment to living a wildly intentional life.
In this episode, we sit down with Bob for a conversation that feels equal parts inspiring and activating. We talk about what it looks like to leave room for adventure through “planned spontaneity,” how to define and live a life of whimsy, and why following Jesus should move us into action—not just good intentions. Bob shares how learning to pay attention to your life can change everything, along with his simple filter for navigating yeses and no’s: look for where people are in need and move toward them. We also get a glimpse into Bob’s current bucket list and the kind of life he’s still choosing to live in this next chapter.
This conversation will challenge you to stop overthinking and start living.

What if resilience isn’t about avoiding hard things—but learning how to handle them well?
Today’s guest is Jason Van Ruler, a licensed therapist based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and author of Get Past Your Past and Discovering Your Communication Type (available for pre-order now, releasing April 14).
In this episode, we talk about what a “10 out of 10 day” looks like and the five daily practices Jason uses to stay grounded. We also unpack what it means to develop everyday resilience—the ability to navigate life’s unexpected and difficult moments with strength and intention.
We explore:
What resilience really is
How your past impacts your present—and what to do about it
A powerful question: “How is what I’m carrying helping me now?”
Why you have to feel it to heal it
A practical framework for processing emotions (including the idea of having a “funeral” for what you’ve been carrying)
Learning to love the process through gratitude, perspective, and serving others
This conversation is honest, practical, and deeply helpful if you feel like you’ve been carrying more than you should.
