We've been away for awhile since we needed to find a way to re-engage George. And we've done so through video. He's more relaxed in this format. This Sunday, Jesus summarizes the 10 Commandments into 2: Loving God and others. The Gospel reading reminds us of our call to love. But sometimes, this is hard to do. This week's activity reminds us that with the help of the Holy Spirit, we're given extra grace to fulfill our mission to love others. As mentioned in Romans 5:5, "And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." This week, we also read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which defines what love is. If you found this helpful, please share with others. This week we have a simple coin activity that anybody can easily do at home. The challenge is to get a quarter size coin through a penny size hole without forcing or tearing it. The coin activity ties in with this week's Gospel Reading from Matthew 22:15-21 (29th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Liturgical Cycle A). It's a timely reading in terms of the upcoming election. As part of society, we do pay taxes and support the Government because the Government helps keep law and order in the community. But when there are issues that potentially can affect morality, then as Catholics we need to make a stand. Sometimes, this is very hard to do ... but not impossible.  

The Parable of the Wedding Feast is an allegory to going to Sunday Masses and receiving the Holy Eucharist. If someone important (like the Pope) invited us to go to a party, wouldn't we be excited to go? Every week, God invites us to celebrate the Mass and give Thanks to Him for sending His only Son to die for our sins. We give Thanks to Him for loving us so much. And when we seek His Kingdom first and give Him priority, everything else falls into place. And we can stand firm on His promise in Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart."  

We're always taught to trust God. But in this Parable, it shows about how God has also placed His trust in us, hoping that we would help build up his Kingdom. We also changed the format for the Gospel and included this in the video with a voice over narration. Our daughter noted there were some "mean" parts in this parable, so get ready for some questions from your kids. Thank you and God bless!  

To love God is to obey His commandments. This is a great parable to teach children about obedience. We have a cool object lesson that's also available on our website (www.everydaycanbeasunday.com) so you can follow along. We talked about the practical application at home/school when our parents/teachers ask us to do something Today, we also highlighted Ephesians 6:2-3, "Honor your father and mother - which is the first commandment with a promise - so it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." God is so generous and He loves everyone. He would like everyone to go to heaven - even at the very last minute.  

We found a fun object lesson from Meaningful Mama and the kids enjoyed it! It serves as a STEM activity as well. For this Sunday's Gospel Reflection, Jesus wants us to forgive 70 times 7 (490 times).
